About DJ Smith
Born and raised in Fort Madison, Iowa, DJ graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1974 with a B.A. in Political Science.
He attended the National Law Center of George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and received his law degree in 1977.
DJ returned to Cedar Rapids to form a partnership with Edgar King, an older attorney who was nearing retirement.
In 1983, Richard Boresi joined the firm which became known as KING, SMITH & BORESI. In December 2008, the firm closed after its downtown office building was destroyed by an historic flood. DJ then established his sole law practice at Northridge Professional Park in northeast Cedar Rapids, specializing in estate planning and probate law.
DJ has been married for over 30 years to Abbie, and they have one son, Tyler. DJ enjoys singing in his church choir and attending area cultural events. He also does freelance copyediting and proofreading and legal consulting work internationally.
